We were honored with the visit of our own District Governor, Juanita Valentín-Morris, who was warmly welcomed by all. She is the second fellow Rotarian lady from our club that holds this distinction and we are very proud of her work.
She addressed the audience with inspiring words and also invited us to participate and share in the Rotary Family Day to be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018, starting @ 8:30AM through 4:00PM in “Isla de Cabras” recreation area, Cataño; only $25.00 donation per person.

District 7000 Governor, Juanita Valentin Morris, made her Official Visit to San Juan Rotary. With Rotary International President Barry Rassin's theme of "Be the Inspiration" in mind, DG Juanita spoke on her three major passions: Rotary, the YWCA and family. She spent the early morning meeting with our Board of Directors to hear our plans and objectives for this Rotary Year. The recovery from Hurricane Maria efforts by Rotarians were highly praised as was RI's Polio Plus program that has almost eradicated that dread disease from the planet. She could not stress enough of the important of transmitting your Rotary enthusiasm to others as we need to increase the membership on the island as well as in our club. DG Juanita thanked RI for its help in recovery to the YWCA building in Miramar which was badly damaged by Maria. She also thanked the many Rotarians who offered their sympathy upon the recent death of her Mother. Lastly, she was happy to tell of her grandson's obtaining the title of Attorney-at-law on passing the bar examination.
DG Juanita retired from UPR after 30 years, the last eight as director of the Office of External Resources. She belongs to multiple professional and civic organizations such as the Foundation for the Supreme Court of PR, YWCA (President) San Juan Rotary (President 2013-2014) and numerous educational associations DG Juanita also has an artistic side - teacher of Ikebana flower arranging in the Japanese tradition, having exhibited her arrangements at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens and UPR for the Florist Association. She has lived in England and has literally been around the world. To date, she has visited 15 Rotary Clubs and has another 15 to go as District Governor of Rotary in Puerto Rico.
