The Isla Verde Coral Reef Marine Reserve was the topic when graphic designer, animator and illustrator, Francisco Lopez Mujica addressed the Club. The community initiative with the support of the Department of Natural and Environmental Resources, local business members and residents of the area, set a Surveillance and Protocol agreement with state and municipal entities to achieve protection objectives including no fishing, no motor boats or jet skis.  Isla Verde beaches are home to a network of sea turtles, including the Green Sea Turtle, the Hacksbill Sea Turtle and the Leatherback who nest there. The effort includes a coordinated vigilance with volunteer citizens and police authorities to help keep the enemies of this beautiful area at bay.  Over fishing, litter and outflow of contaminated water are among the major problems facing the Reserve.
