Hola.
Last Tuesday, our meeting was a joyous get together of friends that enjoy each other's company enormously. We really had a wonderful time.
Our speaker was Enid Reyes, who has developed an Asset Based Community Development Model providing education, leadership skills and tools to help low-income communities become self-sustained. Currently she is working with WorldNet's new Synergy Foundation, and she brought her boss Vangie Bogaty to present their special program. Ms. Reyes is also a Baptist Minister and is the first woman appointed Commodore of the Puerto Rico Borinquen Islands Sailing Association.
There were several guests beside Enid and Vangie: Laura Dong, Miguel Rodriguez, Annie (Rob's wife), Vicky and Emma Gonzalez, and Veronica Montalvo. Welcome all!
I invited everyone, as I am inviting you, to two activities to be held at Tinto y Blanco in Hato Rey. The first is a get together, or Intercitadina, organized by our District 7000, expecting the participation of the San Juan, Rio Piedras, Carolina, and E Clubs, to be held tomorrow Saturday 11th at 4:30 PM. The second is our second Tuesday of the month outing, to be held next Tuesday 14th at 6:00 PM. Hope you can make it to both or at least one of these nice gatherings. Remember at Tinto y Blanco you only pay for what you order.
We have an especially important event coming up for which I am inviting you, which is our Club's Dinner to present the Citizen of the Year Award. You may already know that the honored person is the director of the American Legion, Commander Carmen Rosario. This will take place at AFDA on May 21st at 6:00 PM. I expect to see you there. And please, R.S.V.P.’d to me so that we may count you as a participant.
And before I finish, let me remind you again of the District Conference, the last activity of this year, to be held on June 28-30 in Costa Bahia Resort in Guayanilla. Several of us have already signed in, so please join us for a weekend full of good Rotary activities.
Have a wonderful weekend and take care. See you soon!
