Dear fellow Rotarians,
Next week we will have as a speaker Rushton Hurley, member of Rotary eClub of Silicon Valley, CA. He will talk on Creative Solutions for the Global Good. It will cover how to imagine and implement projects that improve the community. This will be a Zoom meeting and we hope to have as many members as possible join us for this thought-provoking talk.
This past week, as you know, there was no meeting at AFDA, but instead a get together with the Interact group that came from New Hampshire. It went as scheduled in Jorge Gonzalez' farm, and everybody had a wonderful time.
Next week our meeting will be at Zoom. Our speaker, Rushton Hurley from the Rotary eClub of Silicon Valley, is in Puerto Rico this week, but he will speak to us from California where he will have returned by Tuesday 27. His talk is titled Creative Solutions for the Global Good, geared to implementing projects that improve communities. Please join us on Tuesday 27th for this remarkably interesting talk, directly from California.
Last Tuesday, Tito and I attended a meeting of Recovery Innovation Coordinator & Center of Excellence (RICCE) where they invited organizations of the third sector into what they have developed as a monthly activity named "Conexion Solidaria". Its purpose is to provide networking opportunities for non-profits so that they may get to know, connect, and collaborate with each other. I represented the San Juan Rotary Club and Tito represented District 7000, being the international service director. Ana Garcia from the Manati Club was there also in representation of the Sede Incubadora Solidaria de Mujeres de Islas en Culebra. It was an excellent initiative by RICCE and valuable for all that attended, since more than 40 entities were represented, giving them a chance to get to know and collaborate with each other.
Remember that next Tuesday we will meet by Zoom. Until then, have a great weekend.
The New Hampshire Interact Group composed of 35 Junior and Senior High Schoolers and 5 Adult Supervisors/Mentors are seen at the site of one of their work/service projects in Puerto Rico. Here they are at what once was the Rexford Tugwell school that is being converted to a community center in the mountains of Jajome Alto, Cayey. The trip coordinated by SJRC President Elect Jorge Gonzalez has visited numerous areas in PR. Including Los Saint Just in Carolina, Los Naranjos Community Center in Vega Baja, and the Jane Stern Community Library. Rotarians present in Jajome are our DG Maria del Carmen Pacheco, PDG Juanita Valentin Morris, and PE Jorge Gonzalez, DGND Gerry Cumpiano and SJ Rotarian Jean Cornelius.
