THIS WEEK Service Projects Director, Denis Vaz. introduced the young representatives of the Interact Clubs of Commonwealth and Robinson Schools accompanied by their respective faculty advisors. The Commonwealth Club president gave an overview of their “Heart for Haiti” international project. The focus was on the Matenwa Learning Center which began in 2005. This is a community in Haiti with no electricity. The club is happy to say that the Matenwa community, after 10 years, is now helping other less fortunate areas in Haiti.
The Robinson Interact Club is newly formed and has taken on various local projects. The club has elementary as well as high school students enthusiastically participating.
San Juan Rotary is proud to sponsor these two Interact Clubs.
The October 2 Revelry at Chicharron’s, the new restaurant in Santurce’s La Placita, saw 37 people attending, a record for a Revelry. Fourteen stayed and enjoyed a delicious dinner. Organizer, Jennifer, thanks all who helped make it a success. There will be a second one scheduled in the near future. Stay tuned!
THE FOLLOWING CANDIDATE has been approved by the Board of Directors for membership in the Rotary Club of San Juan. Edwin Aquino Escobar (Marketing Research) President of Anderson Research International, LLC, sponsored by Sol Bravman. He will be scheduled for orientation if no objections are received by the Secretary, PO Box 9021529, San Juan, PR 00902-1529 before October 5, 2015. The final decision rests with the Board of Directors.
The Rotary e-Clubs of Puerto Rico and L.A. together with the Rotary Club of Santo Domingo Bella Vista’s have joined forces on a project to supply school materials for 35 kids from San Luis, an economically deprived area in Santo Domingo. They need to raise $500. If you can help, your donation can be charged to your Rotary account.
