  Dear Rotarians,

Fellow Rotarian Jorge Gonzalez has been deeply involved in the District Peace project and fundraising for worthy causes. Here is his invitation to participate in the final outcome of his effort for this Rotary year. Let us support his work and be there as Rotary club of San Juan members ($10.00 p.p.). As usual, try to carpool and enjoy additional fellowship. See you there!

Yours in Rotary,

Juanita

“We will be celebrating our June 9 social activity at the Rio Piedras Rotary Club together with the other clubs of the metropolitan area that comprise District 7000 Area #1. You will have two choices: (1) Attend the social activity from 6 to 7 and from 7 to 7:15 the brief ceremony thanking Ocean Lab and delivering our donations from the funds raised at the Area #1 club St. Patrick’s Day Celebration With a Cause to Hogar Buen Pastor, Fundación Stefano and Colegio San Juan Bosco; and (2) Staying on for dinner and the Rio Piedras weekly program. This is a great opportunity to socialize with fellow Rotarians, celebrate the results of our St. Patrick’s Day Celebration event, and get to know fellow rotarians from other clubs.

Message  from FR Enid Reyes-President  (2025-2027)

At our meeting, we welcome Raymond Harwood from FORA (formerly The Corporate Source), who present on “Employing the Disabled.” FORA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating pathways to employment for individuals with disabilities while helping employers build more inclusive and diverse workplaces. Through workforce development, job placement, training, and employer partnerships, FORA demonstrates how inclusive hiring strengthens businesses, empowers individuals, and benefits entire communities. We look forward to learning more about this important work and the opportunities it creates throughout Puerto Rico and beyond.

As we approach the conclusion of the 2025–2026 Rotary year, we invite members to submit recommendations for speakers and program topics for the 2026–2027 Rotary year. We are also seeking volunteers to assist with meeting operations, including the registration table, audiovisual setup, and invocation. Your participation helps ensure the continued success of our club meetings and activities.

We extend our best wishes to our District Governor-Elect, Gerry Cumpiano, who will be representing our club and District 7000 at the Rotary International Convention in Taiwan. We wish him safe travels and look forward to hearing about his experiences and insights upon his return.

Service Opportunity: Support Verano Semilla 2026

The Rotary Club of San Juan is proud to support the launch of Verano Semilla 2026, the inaugural summer program of Laboratorio Semilla, an innovative youth entrepreneurship and leadership initiative serving young people in Río Piedras. During this two-week experience, students ages 11–17 will participate in hands-on activities focused on Design Thinking, creativity, storytelling, entrepreneurship, and problem-solving while developing the skills and confidence needed to become future leaders in their communities.

Our immediate fundraising goal is $6,750, which will support facilitators, educational materials, transportation assistance, meals, and the student showcase event. Thanks to the generosity of fellow Rotarian Dr. Annie Evans, every contribution made by Rotary Club of San Juan members will be matched dollar-for-dollar, effectively doubling its impact. This is an excellent opportunity to invest directly in youth development, education, innovation, and community transformation. Members interested in supporting a student or contributing to the program are encouraged to participate and help make this inaugural summer experience a success.
