President Gerry Cumpiano gave a concise and fact-filled history of Rotary International from its founding by Paul Harris in 1905 to the present day. The mission of Rotary International is to provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through its fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders. It's motto is "Service Above Self." The Rotary Foundation's, founded in 1917, motto of "Doing Good in the World", is dedicated to the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty. To make Rotary relevant in today's world, it is Rotary's plan to increase our impact, expand our reach, enhance participant engagement, and increase our ability to adapt. TOGETHER we see a world where PEOPLE unite and take action to CREATE lasting CHANGE across the globe, in our communities and in ourselves. When the members were asked to add their thoughts to active involvement in Rotary, a number of fellow-Rotarians joined in by expressing their ideas. Among them were Antonio Colorado,Ken McGrath, Sol Bravman, Armand Pique and Jose Irizarry. In summation, President Gerry asked Rotarians to recommit to putting the needs, expectations, and growth of our participants at the center of all we do.
