The Strategic Highway Plan for Puerto Rico was the topic when two engineers from the Traffic Safety Commission, Juan Carlos Rivera and Alexis Nevarez presented a comprehensive report on the steps being taken to reduce highway fatalities on our roads. Some of the causes of the high fatality rate are alcohol impairment, aggressive driving and vulnerable road users (bikers, runners). There is a five-year plan to reduce the fatal accidents to under 300; to comply with Federal regulations, and to convert to a data driven process. The Membership Recruiting Committee will meet next Tuesday, April 21, at 11:00 AM in the AFDA Club. All members are urged to come and bring their ideas for increasing our membership.
Eight young artists joined us for lunch this past week and shared samples of their art work. Robinson School will hold its "impression of Impressionism" exhibit from April 13-17 on the school grounds. We were also treated to a 3-minute video of the Exhibit professionally put together by the students. All San Juan Rotarians are cordially invited to the Exhibit by fellow-Rotarian, Headmaster Dan Hildebrand.
