Next week we will have a renowned speaker, Myrna Rivera. Who will cover the topic “Economic development: Puerto Rico’s Low Hanging Fruit.” The Rotary Club of San Juan gave her a recognition for being the first woman to establish a very successful business in financial consulting and management in Puerto Rico. You are welcome to invite friends and possible Rotarians to this very informative presentation.
It is my pleasure to remind you of the November 7th meeting when Kim Casiano will be addressing us on her life experiences, especially as member of the Board of Directors of Ford Motor Company. Please make it a point to come and participate with us of a very interesting chat. This is a good opportunity to invite your friends. See you soon!
Professor Josiemer Mattei, born and raised in Puerto Rico, has spent the last 15 years as a faculty member of the Nutrition Department of the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She described her Puerto Rico-based study and how healthy eating has shown to be the key in reducing the incidence of chronic disease in Puerto Rico. Eating at home, emphasizing locally grown foods, and Puertoricanizing the mediterranean diet have so far shown to markedly improve the health of those who have been part of the study titled “PROSPECT: Puerto Rico Observational Study of Psychosocial, Environmental, and Chronic Disease Trends.” If you would like to learn more about the Prospect study and opportunities for philanthropic funding of the study, please contact Dr. Mattei at jmattei@hsps.harvard.edu.
