Hoping you had a peaceful and happy Thanksgiving. Still the weekend to go, enjoy and relax!
Before I enter past week's events, I want to remind you, as has Juanita, that next week's meeting is our annual assembly. We must choose members of the Board of Directors for 2025-2026 and we need all of you there to support the current Board and vote for all that is needed. Put it in your calendar, please.
We had a couple of visitors on our lunch last Tuesday, Hada, and Dennis Rogers, President Elect for 2024-2025 of Tempe South Club in Arizona. They are staying at the Rio Mar Beach Resort and enjoying our wonderful weather. They said they had not seen as much rain even in two years, in Arizona.
The Thanksgiving lunch for the Boys and Girls Club, celebrated at the Sheraton Hotel of the Convention Center, was quite a success. This was made possible by donations from benefactors, starting with the Sheraton Hotel and we want to convey our thanks to its General Manager, Roberto Mosquera, who was there to greet us, and to all his staff. Of course, the volunteers played an essential role, and we thank them as well, the Coast Guard, Grant Thornton, Messer, Antilles High School, and the Boys and Girls Club. And of course, our fellow Rotarians that give so much of their time and effort, among them Gerry, Jose Ismael and Pepito, but specially Maria, our past president, who was the motor who put together all the players so that this could be such a memorable event. As in previous years before COVID, around 300 children participated in what is a very enjoyable and happy Fiesta. There were little children with painted faces that looked like little angels, surrounded by big and colorful balloons. There was good music, too.
Our RYLA project finalized by sending $2,000 for 8 children to participate. Thanks to those that contributed to collecting the first $1,000 and to Ray Erb who paired that amount.
Please register before November 28 (remember they have to order food for those attending) to the District Christmas Party in Guayama on December 2. You should register in Club Runner and send me an email or text notifying me that you are going. It will be from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, which gives us enough time to reach Guayama and participate in the fiesta. It is so good to be able to participate in the Rotary Family.
