Hola. Our Christmas lunch last Tuesday was our last activity for 2023 and was well attended by our regular members plus many others that we had not seen for some time. I was so happy that several members attended with their spouses. One of them was Diana, wife of Roberto Valentin, who we recognized for his many years as a Rotary member and having occupied so many important positions in the Rotary International organization. Rafael Aponte brought his wife Margarita and Ramon Barquin was accompanied by his wife Alexandra. Other guests were Marilyn Stalzer, Giomar Alvira, Antonia Jimenez, Awilda Leduc, Felipe Benedit, and Steven Ayara. Jose Duarte invited his two daughters, Yolanda, and Ivone. Ivone is the Consul of Portugal in San Juan.
Also visiting us was Rosana Roig from the Santurce Club, and director of the Foundation Committee, who together with Georgie handed out the certificates and pins sent by the Foundation. Three new fellows were introduced to the Paul Harris Foundation, Dr. Ramon Barquin, Eugene Smotkin and Delia Colorado. Several other members received their respective pins: Juanita Valentin, Jose Duarte, Carmen and John Hammel, Joe Sampson, Ken McGrath, Luis Ramirez, Eugene Smotkin, Ramon Barquin, Tito Colorado, and Delia Colorado.
The atmosphere was very festive, especially because we had Aurora Navarro, a mezzo soprano studying at the Conservatory of Music who has a beautiful voice and was accompanied by Adriel Montañez, an excellent pianist. They delighted us with their musical interpretations.
Remember we expect to be back on Tuesday, January 9th, at the AFDA Club. Meanwhile, have a peaceful and healthy Christmas and get prepared to receive 2024 which I wish will be vibrant, happy, and full of blessings for you and your family.
