Celebrating Peace, Service, and New Beginnings

Last Tuesday, we enjoyed an inspiring Zoom meeting featuring our fellow Rotarians Marilú Ramírez, Luis Rivera Ramírez, and Dr. Luis Nieves.

Luis Rivera Ramírez, one of Rotary's young leaders, shared the history and significance of the Polo de la Paz, a beautiful symbol of Rotary's commitment to peace that has been passed from club to club throughout Puerto Rico for many years. He explained the tradition behind this meaningful emblem and how it represents Rotary's enduring commitment to building peace and fostering understanding among our communities.

The program also featured the winning entries from the Peace Against Violence student video competition. Created by students from schools across Puerto Rico, the videos delivered thoughtful and inspiring messages promoting peace, respect, and nonviolence. Their creativity, passion, and hope reminded us that young people have a powerful voice in shaping a more peaceful future.

A special thank you to Sal Nolfo for leading this outstanding initiative and for providing students with a platform to express their vision for a more peaceful Puerto Rico. We hope this competition becomes a biennial tradition, continuing to inspire future generations to promote peace through creativity, dialogue, and leadership.

Kick off the new Rotary year with fellowship and fun! Join us at AFDA for our Fourth of July Celebration. Wear your Bermuda shorts, picnic attire, or your favorite red, white, and blue, and enjoy an afternoon of friendship, laughter, and Rotary spirit. We look forward to celebrating with you!
