Hola.
Besides having lunch last Tuesday, our fellow member Joel Sanders gave us enough food for thought. Joel is a business strategist and marketer who has experience in small business turnarounds, new product launches, and specializes in product positioning, creating marketing tests and other meaningful business activities. Angelika, his wife, who introduced him, said he has been called a "coffee-drinking idea generation machine". Joel focused his attention on increasing membership. He suggested ways to bring the projects to the members, but it all added up to the conclusion that in our case, membership and service projects go hand in hand because our main interest is developing service projects to serve the community, which requires all members get involved. Our good intentions in becoming members are to be of service, and Rotary provides us with additional leverage to carry out those service projects.
-Maria de los Angeles Rivera, our immediate past president, received a five (5) star Paul Harris Foundation pin. Thank you, Maria, for your generosity and commitment.
-Juanita Valentin-Morris received our congratulations and applause for having been named President of the Council of Past Governors of District 7000.
-An intercitadina activity is going to be held on Saturday September 23 at 4:00PM at Tinto y Blanco in Hato Rey. The participating clubs are those of Area I of our District 7000: San Juan, Santurce, Rio Piedras, Guaynabo, Carolina-Canovanas and the Rotary E-Club Puerto Rico & Las Américas. It is our opportunity to connect with members of the other metropolitan area clubs, and as you know, you only pay for what you order. I expect to be there with my husband Tito, and I hope to see all of you there.
-Next Tuesday at lunch we will have as speaker Rob Bolt, who is going to talk about new trends in education. Also, he will tell us about the outcome of the activity held on Friday 22 of September, at 4pm at La Isla on Fernandez Juncos Ave., where he invited young people to talk about forming a Rotaract Club.
Have a wonderful weekend, see you at Tinto y Blanco on Saturday!
