Hola.

  Last week Tito and I were on a cruise with the San Juan Social Club in the Valiant Lady of Virgin Voyages. There were about 250 members from the club, whose leader is Daven Michaels whom you might recall was a speaker on a night activity celebrated when Maria Rivera was President. It was at that meeting that he announced the cruise and Maria and her husband Carlos, Tito and I, and Antonia Jimenez, decided to join the group. We had a really good time. The group is ready to sail again next year, and we are planning to invite Daven to tell us all about the 2025 trip so any of you that will like, may join.

 

In that cruise, Daven asked me to give a talk about Rotary which I did, and it was good because they even gave me sort of a diploma as a recognition.  

 

This past Tuesday in our lunch meeting, Antonia Jimenez was inducted in our Club, she is going to join the membership committee. Veronica Montalvo was on the cruise also; she is going to become a Rotary soon.

 

Our speaker at that meeting was Michelle Rexach, who sits on the Board of Acutas, a not-for-profit created after hurricane Maria to help a community in Toa Baja. She explained all their problems and needs, how the community of more than 4,000 people became "an island within an island" when the water surrounded it completely and isolated it from the neighboring land.
