Hola.
Last Tuesday, despite the rain and inundations caused by a "vaguada", several brave members showed to listen to the interesting information that Lilliam Rodriguez, VOCES Executive Director, brought to us. She reminded us that we need to vaccinate against pneumonia, influenza, shingles, and of course COVID. Because those viruses mutate, the latest vaccines protect us from the latest mutations, we should not hesitate to receive them.
Mrs. Rodriguez told us that there is a project in the Legislature for making it voluntary for people to get vaccines. As you know, in the United States many people reject vaccines, which puts the entire population at risk. For example, there is elevated risk of measles sprouting again if it is left in the hands of the mothers to decide, and Lilliam said it is necessary to educate the population, especially the mothers of the newborn. The members present agreed that Rotary should unite our voice to that of VOCES to tell our Legislators to reject the project P de la C 1948. Lilliam is going to send us all the information so that we may collaborate with them. I will keep you posted.
I am sending you by separate email the information about our February 20 meeting which will not be at AFDA but has been changed to Monday February 19 to visit Jorge Gonzalez's farm in Cayey to be with the Interact Club which is coming from New Hampshire.
