Upcoming Visit to Fundacion Estefano Farm
Invitation to Rotarians
Dear Rotarians,
Fundacion Estefano Farm Visit
On Tuesday, we invite you to join us for a visit to the Fundacion Estefano farm in Cupey. This visit provides an opportunity to observe firsthand the ongoing initiatives supported by the donated property, which is being utilized to generate funds for their foundation. Fundacion Estefano is one of three nonprofit organizations benefiting from the St. Patrick’s fundraiser held at OceanLab Brewery and Sports Bar. Each organization will receive a donation of $800.00. The event was a collaborative effort with Santurce and the Rotary e-club Puerto Rico & Las Américas, and the San Juan Rotary Club was represented by thirteen members and guests. We extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who contributed to making this activity a success.
Transportation Arrangements
We look forward to your participation in the upcoming visit and encourage carpooling for convenience. Gerry has generously offered transportation and has three available seats. Jorge is also willing to provide rides for those who can meet him at San Patricio Plaza. Please contact Gerry or Jorge directly to reserve your spot.
Lunch and Location Details
A sandwich lunch will be provided during the visit. Jorge will share the location details for the farm in a separate message.
Last Tuesday’s speaker via Zoom, Edmundo Rodríguez, explained the US Customs broker ‘s critical role in Puerto Rico’s economic development in which he has been involved from being an intern at Nestor Reyes , Inc. (NRI) in the early 1970’s when it was just starting with 4 employees and he was in his first year at the UPR, to his purchase of NRI in 2002, and to his sale of NRI to two of NRI’s 30 employees last year. Edmundo explained the unique benefits available to industrial and commercial entities via the expansive U.S. foreign trade zone provisions and Puerto Rico laws that he promoted. He also explained his ongoing import and export business in the Guaynabo Foreign Trade Zone that can be a business incubator or a valuable partner for savings on inventory, municipal license and US Customs taxes and duties by small and large companies.
