Did you know that don Pablo Casals was made an honorary member of Rotary in 1958 in San Juan, Puerto Rico? Today we had the visit of Mr. Jose Delanoy, Executive Director of the Fundacion Pablo Casals, and he delivered quite an interesting talk about don Pablo, his Museum and Foundation. This year marks the 50th anniversary of his departure from this earth and there will be special concerts in October to celebrate. There is a bill pending approval in the Legislature to create the Pablo Casals Trust. This would facilitate the management of the Museum and all his memorabilia. We also learned there is a Museum Pilar Defillo (Pablo's mother) in Mayaguez, if you were to travel to that city.
Last Saturday Tito and I were hosts to Jeremy Hurst and Michelle, from Grand Cayman. He is a Director of Zone 34 and delivered an enthusiastic message in the Membership Seminar where Luz Miriam also participated. They are lovely people, we enjoyed being with them. Maria del Carmen Pacheco, our Governor, and her husband Tony, were also with us, making it a memorable weekend.
Today I am beginning to remind all of you of the Rotary International Conference in Singapore. Tito has already reserved it for us. Please call Tito so that he can place you on the list. Let us make a nice delegation from Puerto Rico. (Tito 787-649-9426). That will be May of 2024, but we must book the hotel rooms early so that we are not left with the expensive ones.
We will be on vacation until the end of the month, but everything will run as usual thanks to that wonderful Board of Directors and Chairs of Committees we have this year. So, do not miss next Tuesday's speaker, Cameron McKenzie, the Honorary Consul of Japan, who has interesting stories to share.
And before I forget, all of you interested in visiting the Fideicomiso de Conservacion on October 17, please sign up, we need to know how many lunches to prepare.
Take care all of you, Saludos!
