THANKSGIVING EVENT

As you will see from the photos, our Thanksgiving lunch with the Boys & Girls Clubs of PR was a banner affair, made even more festive with the surprise appearance of New York State Governor ANDREW CUOMO, accompanied by his daughters.  Commonwealth High Interacters came to help and to face-paint the kids.  Many fellow Rotarians helped to serve the delicious lunch prepared by the chefs at La Concha Resort.  La Concha's special pricing, together with donations from Rotarians and suppliers, were greatly appreciated.  There were some highlights that didn't make press time but will be noted in a future Garita.

-LAST WEEK-

Speaker Dr. John Andujar, centered on a report out of Princeton University that showed how sea temperature and ocean acidification have climbed during the last three decades to levels beyond what is expected due to natural variation alone.  The study looked at physical and chemical changes to the ocean that are associated with rising atmospheric carbon dioxide due to human activities.  Will we see significant changes in the ocean due to climate change? Some changes are noticeable already, while others will take up to a century.  Thanks to Director Warwick Butler who our speaker on this most important climate change topic.
