CHILI COOK OFF
Our Third Annual Chili and Sancocho Cook Off will be held Sunday, February 28th.  The last two years have been a huge success, and this year we hope to increase attendance even more.  This is our signature fundraising event and we need your help to make it a hit.
As announced, we are asking each member to purchase 5 tickets at a total price of $75. (face value $15 each).  This is a great family event and we hope you encourage friends, family, professional acquaintances, aunts, uncles, neighbors, (pretty much everyone you know) to attend.       You can do this by giving or selling your tickets.
Rotarians who attended the Holiday Lunch have received their tickets.  The rest of our Club members will be receiving their tickets by US Mail with the January 1st  invoice.  The amount of $75 will be added to the January 1st  invoice.
The Board of Directors and your President hope that you will be generous in your support of this annual Club event.  We look forward to seeing you at the San Juan Community Library at Bucaplaa on February 28,2016,

Raymond Erb, President

Speaker Frederick Pfaeffle, appointee to the President’s Task Force on Puerto Rico, spoke on the 3.5 million Americans living here in the midst of an economic and fiscal crisis.  The Deputy Assistant Secretary of Civil Rights at the USDA, said the USDA has expanded its StrikeForce to Puerto Rico.  Through StrikeForce efforts, USDA has invested over $20 billion to date throughout designated regions of need to stimulate chronic rural economies and will work feeding children, assisting farmers, securing safe homes and conserving natural resources.  The USDA is also working in collaboration with other federal agencies to coordinate and enhance access to federal programs for Puerto Rico as part of the President’s Task Force on Puerto Rico.  Mr. Pfaeffle was born in Mexico City from Nicaraguan parents.  He moved to Miami for high school, became a U.S. citizen, attended the U of Florida and law school at the U of Southern California.  In Los Angeles County, he was Deputy Counsel responsible for legal work in the areas of public works, solid and hazardous waste and water. He was appointed to his present position in 2013.
